This story and its setting is considered to be an alternate universe of Murder Drones. Some elements of the main web series are definitely still canon, and these elements will come up when needed, but their canonical status in this setting is questionable unless verified by either the story or the author. This story contains multiple depictions of violence, one or two examples of body horror, and some drone-flavored gore, and a scene of what can be considered a surgery operation of sorts. These depictions may be upsetting to some individuals. I will put a note in the beginning of a chapter that features this content to let the reader know when these scenes will appear.

This story is a sequel to my previous work, Free Spirits. It is set a year after the events of the work. However, the plot and content of Free Spirits is not essential to understanding the plot of this work. You do not need to read Free Spirits to understand Wakeful Phantoms.
