Summary
[Set during 3x21 where Emma is caught and taken prisoner by the Black Guard.]
What was Regina's former self like?
Sure, she has heard the stories, the pain and death caused by the hands of the Evil Queen, is aware of all the darkness and burdens Regina carries around day and night, all her remorse and guilt. But, to Emma they were just that: stories, tales she never stopped assuring Regina about meant nothing anymore since she tried her best to make up for the pain she once caused.
But it's easy to forgive if you weren't the one at the receiving end of Regina's wrath, wronged or destroyed, fallen prey to this evil ruler.
Regina was just a victim herself, so she could not *really* have done unforgivable things -- or could she?
How will Emma cope if her captor is far from the woman she thought she knew, a queen still trapped inside her own twisted hell.
And what will the Evil Queen do if this blond girl defies her? Won't cooperate?Series

Summary
This is the "Present"-Timeline, in Storybrooke, where Emma and Regina deal with the fallout of what happens in Her True Darkness.
Can Regina undo the damage she caused? Or does she even want to?
Does Emma want her to?As Regina remembers more and more details and actual things that are now part of her past - what she did - it is uncertain if or how their relationship will progress.
Both are different now, changed.Emma, by the challenges she lived through at the hands of the Evil Queen - not Regina(!), as she still tries to convince herself.
Regina, still in shock by those old demons this flood of memories reawakens. But sometimes, we are not quite ready to face the whole truth; the ugly parts we prefer to keep hidden from the general public.
Let's just say every coin has two sides...
You probably don't have to read the first part but things will make more sense if you do.
