“Sorry?” he slurred, “Kate, I am half aslumber. What are you going on about?”
“Oh, so you were talking in your sleep,” Kate held his shoulder, and rolled him so that he was now lying on his back., “What were you dreaming about?” she asked as she scanned his face. “Uhhh... oh nothing, dear,” Anthony averted her gaze. Kate riding astride gracefully is all he could picture; they were back in that park, but she was not atop a horse.

“In fact, I’d prefer if you would stand over there, next to the equipment shed,” she pointed to a little outdoor storage cupboard in the distance, hundreds of metres from where they were all standing.
“What? You can’t be serious, surely. We won’t be able to see a thing from there,” Anthony sulked.
“I’m very sorry, but we’ve been having complaints from other parents all day.”
Anthony stated bluntly, “But Eddie has the egg and spoon relay coming up soon.”

He’d already played it out in his head when getting dressed that morning, but as he sat at the breakfast table ogling his wife, he played it out a few more times. Kate spied how he was looking at her, she blushed and gave him a cute smile back. Anthony used the side of his foot to caress her calf under the table. Kate cleared her throat in response and tried to avert his gaze, but her leg returned his touch where no one could see.
He made a mental note to bring the idea up to her when none of the staff were in ear shot, for now he’d enjoy his final morning in Bridgerton House before they set off to travel unaccompanied by any of the other Bridgertons.
“Bridgerton!!” Simon’s voice echoed through the hall and into the dining room.
