DI Greg Lestrade travels back in time to meet Mycroft Holmes' doppelganger--laird of Bassendean Manor. While he waits for the next opportunity to return to his own time, he and Mycroft develop and friendship, one fraught with longing and desire, but that can ultimately go nowhere.

Notes:

Originally written for the 2015 December Holmestice Exchange on LiveJournal. It quickly became apparent that the scope of my vision was far larger than the time frame I had to write my gift and turn it in, so I found a logical ending place and determined to continue the saga. It's a year and half later as I write this (04/2017) and the second part is probably 3/4 of the way complete. I'm bound and determined to finish it at some point. I just don't know when.

But part one can be read without readers being left in the lurch.
