Summary
All things considered, Jote never expected to have survived for three months.
They say to be prepared is to be alive. Most people weren’t, so they’re all dead now. She was simply lucky.
(They also say your luck runs out exactly when you need it the most.)

Summary
Once upon a time, there lived a princess in an Eternal Kingdom. She lived happily with the king and the queen in a big, beautiful castle surrounded by lush gardens filled with all kinds of flowers and fruit-bearing trees.
The princess could play anywhere she wanted within the castle walls, from the halls of paintings and statues to the outdoor pavilions and the greenhouses. There was only one area she was not allowed to go: the centermost part of the castle, which was under a magic spell.

Summary
Blazin’ Bulldog? Of all the possible superhero names out there, this was what management had decided on? Despite the whole gallant Phoenix motif they had pushed on him in earlier discussions?
“The CEO’s daughter got a new pet and is now crazy over all things bulldog,” Cyril sighed. Surprisingly, that explained so much, and Jote absolutely hated it.

Summary
Joshua found himself unconsciously studying Jote’s playing form: the way her knees bent only ever so slightly as she readied herself, the way her outstretched arms waited above her head as she pushed the ball upward, the way her eyes focused on her play—her prize—as it came back to her after its short journey to the top. When Jote was finished, she held the ball before her in both hands as if tenderly cradling it after a long day, and Joshua was mesmerized. “That’s beautiful.”
Jote blinked, turning to him sharply. “I’m sorry?”
“Ah, that’s… How do you do it? The overhead pass, I mean.”

Summary
“You’ll do no such thing, Joshua Rosfield.”
The stern command surprised even Jote herself, both for even having raised her voice at all, and for doing so in-character, complete with accent and voice inflection. She stopped short, briefly wondering if she had overstepped her boundaries, before she remembered she was different from The Attendant and had no qualms whatsoever about speaking her mind.

Even their sleep habits and tastes in breakfast haven't changed through the years—a fact Jote is entirely happy for, embarrassed as she is to show it at her age. Her husband has no such qualms, however.
