Summary
Michael had invited David to stay for a few days. Anna had taken the girls to visit her family, and though Michael was content to have the place to himself, it was almost too quiet. It hadn't taken much effort to put the idea in David's head. All Michael had to do was promise peace and quiet - and alcohol and good conversation.
A knock on the door announced David's arrival. Michael answered with a big smile. Before he could say hello, David had dropped his bag and pulled Michael into a tight hug. He returned the embrace, melting into it with overwhelming affection.

Summary
David had rolled onto his stomach, legs sprawled and arms wrapped around Michael's pillow. The blankets were kicked down around his calves. Michael went over, running his hand down David's back before coming to rest on the younger man's arse.
David groaned as he woke up, wiggling against the warm palm on his arse. Definitely not the worst way to wake up. "Jesus fuck, Michael - we haven't even had coffee yet." David blinked open tired eyes, voice thick with sleep.

Summary
“Do you ever wonder how things might have been different?” Michael asked as they stood outside, enjoying the sunset.
David looked over at Michael. “How so?”
“Hypothetically speaking, obviously, but if we had worked together sooner.” Michael kept looking ahead at the colors bleeding together in the sky.
David thought about it for a moment before he answered. “I have.” He looked out at the horizon, trying to sound casual. “I felt so guilty I only did it once.”
“Guilty?” It was Michael's turn to look over.
David shrugged one shoulder. “It would have changed everything.”
Or: it's their last night together and they're determined to enjoy it

Summary
David had wandered outside to phone Michael. They hadn't seen each other since he'd visited - aside from the occasional video call - but soon Michael would be in London. David was trying not to appear overly excited while failing spectacularly.
Michael was in a sour mood, that much was obvious as he answered the video call. "Lovely to hear from you," Michael said in greeting. His smile was forced and it didn't reach his eyes. He seemed very distracted.
"What's wrong?" David asked immediately, folding himself up on the bench in the garden.
Michael just shook his head, gaze drifting from the screen. "Nothing at all. Right as rain."

Summary
Michael was tired. The first day of rehearsal was always a bit tricky. Especially when you felt so out of practice - which was indeed what Michael felt. It wasn't as if it had been bad. And if he repeated it enough, he could almost believe it.
A knock on the door pulled him from his thoughts. “I wasn't expecting a visitor,” he said, beaming when he opened his dressing room door to see a smiling David. His exhaustion seemed to evaporate upon seeing that glowing face.
“Surprise.” He shrugged, though his bright smile betrayed his attempt at casualness. He'd wanted to surprise Michael. They'd both been busy with their own work and hadn’t had much time to get away. On the spur of the moment, the younger man had formulated an idea and planned to set it in motion.

Summary
David was there, opening the front door before he had a chance to knock. He handed him the bottle of wine he'd brought and stepped inside. The lights were dimmed, a few candles lit. “Where's Georgia?” Michael knew it would be a night without children but he'd assumed that meant the three of them. Not that he was complaining, of course.
“Oh.” David squeaked in that darling way he did when he had a secret. “Out with a friend.”
