He said that he had gotten a tip from a “reliable” source of his, saying that the the seventh, and final key to Demanitus’s enchiridion was in some underground cavern in Bryselle, hidden away to keep it secret. It was stupid—it must’ve been Varian’s giddy excitement that caused him neglect to do his usual investigation of the claim. He was so ready—too ready—to finally achieve his goal, to unlock Demanitus’s final discoveries and help Nuru, to help his mother.
