Aemon Targaryen was what Lyanna had called the babe on her deathbed. Jon was the replacement Ned had picked to save the boy's life. Howland wasn’t sure if Ned’s plan would work, he didn’t know these Southern lords or understand their politics like Ned did. But Ned had promised Lyanna.
