Buck can’t help the little melody that escapes him along with the next breath as he rubs his face against the pillow and arches into the touch. The fingers settle in his hair again with short blunt nails shiveringly nice against his scalp.
“Mmmmzzt?” Buck says through his barely opened mouth and feels an absurd sense of accomplishment when it makes Tommy let out a short rumbly laugh, the current number 5 in the top 10 sounds Buck can make come out of Tommy’s mouth.

Summary
When Tommy gets his first injury since they’ve been together, Buck isn’t there at the hospital waiting to drive him home.
Instead, he’s at his loft, doing the fifth round of reps on his weights, trying not to check the time on his phone too often, not to count down the minutes until Tommy’s off-shift and can text him goodnight when he’s home safe, and definitely not trying to recall his post-lightning math powers to calculate the speed of morning traffic and how soon is too soon to show up at your boyfriend’s door with breakfast after a 24-hour shift.
Instead of driving his boyfriend, who is newly in possession of 12 stitches in his thigh, home from the urgency care unit at 10pm, helping him take off his clothes carefully so that he doesn’t aggravate the wound, and then maybe getting an uber to Harbor in the morning to drive his car over, Buck shows up that next morning with several tasting samples of freshly roasted coffee beans from the new café/roastery TikTok told him about and a bag of the sweet breakfast buns Tommy likes.

Summary
Tommy and Evan have a regular old boring conversation after dinner
“Have you ever seen kangaroo genitals?” is not a question that Tommy ever expected to be asked in his life. And likely, he never would have been, were it not for one Howard Han first saving said life in a fire 20 years ago, and then introducing him to who Tommy has come to realize might just be the fucking love of his life.
Evan Buckley arrived in Tommy’s life on the wings of a Category 5 hurricane. Everything else follows from that.
At least that’s how Tommy rationalizes the frankly insane decisions he’s found himself making in Evan’s presence and under the influence of his gorgeous blue eyes and smart smiling mouth.
