Summary
Zhongli doesn’t quite register who kisses whom first, but eventually they wind up sitting together on Baizhu’s plush green couch in the parlor, Baizhu’s hair tumbling out of its style in a verdant curtain around his shoulders, Zhongli’s knee slipped between Baizhu’s thighs, Baizhu’s arms looped around Zhongli’s neck, as they trade a thousand hungry touches between them.
After dinner, Baizhu invites Zhongli to stay for dessert.

Summary
“Stay,” Baizhu says, hoarse and unsteady. “Might you?”
It’s a selfish request. Baizhu expects Zhongli to refuse, because what reason could Zhongli possibly have to spend the night with him? Surely he wishes to return to his own home, to shake off the lingering bitterness from the ceremony, and to sleep. Baizhu regrets asking the second it’s out and opens his mouth to rescind and apologize, which is why it’s so surprising when Zhongli looks pleased and dips his head with a tiny smile.
Baizhu and Zhongli find comfort in each other.

“Did I fall asleep on you, Zhongli bǎo bèi?”
Zhongli pulls away, propping himself up on his elbows. In the moonlight drifting in through the window, Baizhu’s face is flushed and lax and coy, eyes gleaming gold. Lazily, he hooks a leg around Zhongli’s hip — as if to bind him there, as if he’d leave.
