Description:

Scientist Adam Kane was a pioneer of genetic research, manipulating DNA to save human lives. But in many, their genes unexpectedly mutated; they developed superhuman abilities. Together with four of the most powerful, he fights to protect a world that doesn’t even know they exist. They are: Mutant X.

In Season 3, it was revealed that the secret backers who helped Adam escape Genomex and funded the creation of Mutant X, Sanctuary, and the Double Helix were secretly regulating the release of scientific breakthroughs to the world at large, but the series ended on a cliffhanger revealing the secret leader of this Dominion had his own reasons for doing so....

Welcome to Ninjetti's Virtual Season 4 of Mutant X! I actually met my first Live Journal friend through her MX fanfic site, and she lamented the cancellation of the show, making one of her online Christmas wishes "Bring MX back!" for a number of years after our poor show folded. Not being a Hollywood bigwig, I couldn't literally make that happen, but I could write a Season 4, and so I did! This Virtual Season 4 is FULL of spoilers for the show's entire run; it assumes the reader has already seen it. Go watch it; cheezy superhero sci-fi at its best/worst!

Notes:

Mutant X was renewed for a fourth season in 2004, but one of the production companies went under, and Season 4 never happened...after Season 3 ended on a giant cliffhanger! This is my virtual Season 4, as canon-compliant as I could make it, although much more serial-as-opposed-to-episodic than the TV show. If anyone remembers the old UniFans.org TTRPGsite, I was the one who converted MX to Eden's Cinematic Unisystem; this Virtual Season 4 uses the example Superscientist, Elemental, Feral, Molecular, and Psionic (and the Psionic's Feral boyfriend) characters as a secondary Mutant X team in LA. (Some violence is depicted, but nothing truly graphic, not really any worse than was on the MX show; individual stories have warnings in the notes of graphic violence or other common triggers. There is a male/male relationship between two of the LA team members, but you can still see various options between several of the canon MX team members if you squint a little...which was exactly how it was on the first two seasons of the show! Characters swear in these stories, some characters sleep nude, and the male/male relationship is indeed sexual [but there is only one actual sex scene, not actually explicit, really.] Lexa is an Elemental, because shooting lasers and flashing lights is manipulating energy, not molecules. Controlling plants or shooting fire is a Molecular ability, because biology and botany and combustion are complex chemical and thus Molecular reactions [a Thermal Elemental would project radiant heat that could catch things on fire, but projecting fire is Molecular.] The tag says "Trying To Clean Up The Mess That Was Mutant X's So-Called 'Canon'" for a reason, people! ..For quite a FEW reasons, actually; I can only tolerate stretching the Bad Science so far.)
  -Enjoy!
