Summary
Cold air nips at Robin’s fingertips as she stands at the front of the growing crowd, composed mostly of friends and family, a handful of helpful strangers lingering on the fringes. She rubs her palms together and tries to listen to what the cops are telling all of them, but it just sounds like a buzz the moment it hits her ears. Most things are these days, with her every waking moment enveloped by the fact that her best friend is missing, has been missing for a couple days now. Laying awake at night, she finds herself wishing she’d realized it sooner, that maybe they’d have more leads if she had, that almost everything wouldn’t have been washed away by the relentless fall of rain since Steve’s disappearance. It’s almost like the universe is mocking her for failing.
