Summary
Jawbone had offered everyone a chance to talk, even Jace. Jace on the other hand didn't know, where to start. Too many things had happened, to many failures on his part, cruelty disguised as good intention and love. He had to get it out of his system, make his guilt be known by someone, anyone who was willing to listen.
And now Jace was here. In front of the fucking door to Jawbone's office. He would go in. He would not be a coward. Again.

Summary
The clearing was small; too small to have actually fit a proper grave for a man of Porter's size. The trees all had taken a step back from this place and left the ground rough and full of hungry roots. They ate up the sound of Jace's steps, but he knew they'd also keep his cries hidden from everyone. This was the only place for Jace's grief. He was glad to have found it. He was glad it was cut off from everything.
+ + +
Jace's grief was a private thing. Jawbone knew, but not too much. Just enough to keep Jace from breaking down under the weight, but for the most part it was nobody's business to see him grieve. Not for Porter. Not for this monster.
It was his own shame to bare, to gently unwrap it every time he came out here and tear into it. It tasted like salt and copper. It hurt. But at least no one saw him with that sticky thing, tar and honey. At least he suffered his grief alone.Series

Summary
There were a few things Jace had never been especially good at. Being lonely was one of those things. For years he didn't have to be, he took refuge in the arms of a man that must have loved him once. In the end he didn't anymore and the pain that was left, the guilt and shame and bone crushing loneliness were Jace's problems to deal with.
Being brave was a second thing, he couldn't do. Forgiving himself a third. Jace had to move on, get back to living, but he didn't quite remember what that meant. Allowing someone to be close to him? Allowing someone back into his life, his home, his heart? Allowing himself to figure out a way around the scars and trauma, instead of reopening a wound that should be healing already? He didn't know.
He was scared to find out. After all this death and pain, Jace had the chance to live again. And he was too afraid to take it.
