Summary
He finds his father’s strong, enraged figure in the chaos of the battlefield, watching him slice and stab through soldier after soldier, completely hypnotized, eyes wide. He doesn’t realize how he’s drifting away until his mother grabs him tightly by the wrist and pulls him away from the throne room, sprinting as fast as her dainty feet will take her. Her hands are cold.
“Child,” she breathes, her voice tight, “we need to run.”
And because he is a good son, he obeys her. He always listens to his mother in every single dream. There is no altering of memories.
Or, Alex has a nightmare. His friends worry.
