Naruto returns to Konoha with one Uchiha Sasuke, but Sakura, feeling the force of her own inadequacies and desperate for the power to protect, instead takes the path once intended for him. Along the way she meets all manner of strange people, from sannin to Tailed Beasts to estranged older brothers—all of whom will leave their marks upon her, in their own ways.

As too many truths finally come to light, her resolve threatens to waver, haunted by the words of her once-master:
