“Red?” Oracle asks, immediately on alert. “Everything okay? Do you need backup?”
He coughs and then clears his throat, forcing his eyes away from the folder and towards the whiteboard on the wall opposite the desk.
“No,” he says, “no, I’m good. Just, uh.”
His exhausted brain fails him—or does it? He can’t come up with a good excuse for his sudden inability to breathe, but at least he didn’t just blurt out this mugshot is the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.
