“What–?” Peri inhales sharply as he straightens up, turning his back on the couch and opting to face his mother instead. “What are you doing?! Why would you bring him here, of all places?! Are you–?!”
Peri falls silent, his gaze now locked on his mother’s hands. He quickly grasps them in his own and turns them over, and his eyes widen at the rainbow-colored fluid covering her palms.
“...are you bleeding…?!” He asks, incredulously. “What the hell did that kid do? He hurt you, and you still brought him back here…?! Why on earth would you–?!”
“It’s not her blood,” Hazel interrupts. “It’s Dev’s.”
