Summary
Each segment holds their secrets as much as they are connected to Prime, and Tau knows Dottore keeps an eye on them all. They are here to serve him, after all. Segments of their own personality that are forever bound to his existence.
And yet, Zandik is the closest they have to an exception.
Statistics don’t like exceptions. Averages are less balanced when taking in the extremes, and Tau does not agree with the Bankier’s actions. He wishes to get to know Zandik. He should not be allowed to.
And yet, Dottore gave him permission for that too.

He calculates. He is present at Harbinger meetings more often than Omega is nowadays, and yet no one has noticed yet. Except for the Bankier, of course. There is a 58,43% chance of the Bankier surpassing their expectations for every one they set.
Tau knows this as well as he knows the right texture of the oaken wood. It’s a fact, derived from calculations and formulas and nothing at all like experience.

Summary
He focuses on the man strapped to the chair again, focuses on the very details of his clothing. The fine linen embroidered with lotuses can only come from one place, as can the silken details on his trousers. Tau forces himself to swallow.
“Subject VIX,” he whispers. It comes out quieter than he intended, and from the split widening of the man’s eyes, it is quite noticeable indeed. “Sumeran silk is quite hard to come by, is it not?”
It’s beautiful. It’s beautiful, a deep green. The murmurs in the back of his head get louder, and the room shakes under his feet.
It’s quiet for a mere second. Alpha laughs. “Just like her eyes, isn’t it?”
