A week had gone by with Lyney and Freminet being dispatched by Father to investigate the Fortress of Meropide to find any leads on or even the hydro gnosis itself. It was going too well honestly, no one including the Duke himself had cast any glance of suspicion at them, even at their flimsy reasons for being sent there. They should have known better as a day after that first week had passed, Freminet found himself with his back flush with a very tall and cold person.
