'When one has garnered enough Focus, be it a birthright or something conquered through trials and tribulations, one can obtain a Domain; thus a new Higher Being is born.
Beings such as these can live forever, forgoing their physical shell to acquire an intangible form. One such necessity of leaving the caste of earthly spawn to an Exalted Being is mortal piety. Even a being of the Ascended Caste cannot rely on their Inner Focus forever. Their reliance on piety is deeply ingrained for these Higher Beings. Without it, even Gods would wither and die.

With the blessing of our God-King, help from the greatest minds of our time, and support from my colleagues, I publicly announce the cause of The Infection--Impiety;
Meaning a lack of piety or reverence, especially for a god.' [1]
