Summary
At the foot of the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia sat a little town. In this little town saddled betwixt trees as far as the eye could possibly see and veins of roaring rivers, there comes revelations of God and love, of moonshine and violence, of how the butt of a thirty-odd-six fits in the shoulder of a boy who has yet to yield his freckles and flaxen hair. In this town with its angry men and its praying mothers, angels sing and demons howl.
This is a story of that freckled blonde boy figuring out which one he is, a singer or a howler.
OR: Dean, Sam, and Cas growing up in a small WV town on neighboring farms. Their story of clawing through the abuse and love of their families, grief and guilt and regret and shame, of queerness and violence, overcompensation and drunken confession.
