Summary
Arlecchino knows better. The Jester always keeps his cards close, but at least for this, she can easily surmise his intentions. As a Priest of the Benevolent Tsaritsa, Arlecchino is supposed to form a pact with a demon, in preparation for the War To Come. Unfortunately for everyone involved, she’s no interest in doing so.
This job won’t be any different — she’ll slay the demon, Focalors, and then go back home. Even her children aren’t in Fontaine anymore, so she’s no reason to linger around.

Her deal with Arlecchino is simple. Furina — under the pretense of “Demon Focalors” — has sealed a pact with Arlecchino, who’s been pressured by the Snezhnayan Church to find a partner in preparation for the War To Come. Summary
“Demons tend to be more active at night. If we want to be sure to catch them all, we better strike at the proper time. Don’t you agree, Hunter?”
Clorinde huffs. “I agree that striking at night is the best course of action. However, are you sure your apprentice is ready?”
Arlecchino shrugs, as if unbothered. “She needs practice.”
“Food’s on the way!” Furina exclaims, as she runs back and takes her seat. “Not to take advantage of the village’s generosity, but I’d say we’re going to eat well, today!”
“A good meal has its own importance,” Arlecchino says.
“So we agree, at the city gates, at sunset,” Clorinde says, confusing Furina.
“Do not be late, Hunter.”

Summary
Lately, there has been another matter close to Furina’s heart.
She takes a deep breath, mentally preparing her very convincing proposition, before facing Arlecchino’s blank gaze. “I have a request, then!”
A twinkle of intrigue dances in Arlecchino’s eyes. “Oh? Color me intrigued.”
Furina smiles, hiding any sign of nervousness. “Since we’re far located from the nearest villages and main travelled roads, I was thinking… can you teach me how to use a sword?”

Summary
They arrive in Petrichor with a Waverider, two days later, just as the sun is setting over the sea. What they find immediately puts Furina on edge.
The town of Petrichor is colorful and vivid, amidst the little hill at the center of the island. Furina can see why it’s a popular tourist spot. What alarms her is the people — their vacant stares, slowed down vocalization, they all point to demonic possession. It would be the most brazen of attempts from a foolish demon, if not that Furina can’t feel the presence of any demon, not during their travel to Petrichor, nor now in town.
