Summary
The knowledge that Kathryn Janeway is watching him is very different from the knowledge that he’s being scrutinized by a security guard. It feels... intimate, somehow. The hairs on the back of his neck stand on end, and he fights to keep himself still. He isn’t allowed to think about intimacy in relation to Captain Janeway. He’s restrained himself from that kind of thinking for the past three years and he is not going to let himself down now just because he’s suffering the effects of her punishment.

Tom isn't at his father's funeral.
It had been a shock to her, to hear about the transporter accident. She’s still not sure how to feel about the fact that her thoughts immediately went to Tom, and only Tom. No consideration for the rest of the family, or for Owen’s close friends, many of whom she knows too. No, she could only think about Tom. Poor Tom, and whether she would see him at the funeral.
The level of disappointment she feels at his absence is frankly embarrassing.
