AU EXPLANATION:
Instead of only the nameless bard dying, most of Venti's friendgroup came to perish during the revolution against Decarabian. This ended up with him becoming disillusioned with the concept of freedom, and utterly paranoid at the notion of losing people.As a result, instead of the God of Freedom Venti becomes the God of Refuge- ruling activley over Mondstadt. He's very posessive aswell as protective over all those he considered to be "his children". Venti loves them all dearly, in his worry over them and his fear of them getting hurt however he forbids them from leaving Mond.

Ontop of that he is also of the steadfast conviction that he knows much better than the other archons, who are negelectful of their nation. He is known for taking people who spend too long a time in Mondstadt as his, and while some seek him out to take refuge most fear him. Venti's "habits" got so bad that Zhongli himself had to go make a deal with him at some point to quell him. Venti would (amongst other things) accept a ward being created. If it was the first thing people told him, he'd leave them be for a bit. In return for no one else interfering when he did take someone. Aswell as other benifits for Mondstadt.
