“Do you remember learning about wishbabies in school?” Eddie asks him.
“Yeah,” Christopher says, and Eddie doesn’t have to look to know there’s a confused frown in his son’s face. “When two people love each other very much and want to have a family together, sometimes a baby appears to give them that!”
“You’re right.” Eddie says as he parks the car on the side of the road, not trusting himself to drive safely while he has this conversation.
“But what does that have to do with you picking me up early?” Christopher asks.
