Now would be the time to let go of the pendant, to stop this voyeurism into a life she was no longer a part of. Had never been a part of it, she corrected.
The location charm was his idea. Not hers. She had many ideas for their future, things she never said aloud, things she knew they could never have. Things that should have stayed buried. That he allowed her to dream of.
The tapestry that hung in Grimmauld Place came to her mind. The family tree of the Ancient House of Black. The offshoots and burned-out faces. She had never seen the tapestry in his own home and was never allowed in after that terrible night while they were on the run. For a brief moment, she allowed herself to imagine her place on it. Weaving her name, a life, into the fabric of what could never be. And he stood by and let her.
Allowed her to kiss him, to hold him.
“You place your hand over the stone and there I'll be, with you. That way we’ll never be apart.”
