Her eyes. Hers. Sloane’s face whips towards her husband, whose limp hand on her thigh where she is sitting up tells her that he is just as asleep as Dain is.
“You just said that as a placeholder. Right?” Sloane asks Aaric, suddenly wide awake.
There’s no answer. Her husband is quiet, his breaths as even and steady as Dain’s, who is lying behind him, probably drooling into his pillow.
“Aaric?” Sloane hisses quietly, trying not to wake Dain. “Aaric? Fuck you, you can’t just say that and fall asleep!”
But he’s out for the count.
