Summary
Chenle’s kissed a lot of people since he went away for college, but none quite like Jeno. He’s tried many times to mimic the way it felt: maybe if he tilts his head a bit further, maybe if he has one of those strawberry candies he used to hate but not on Jeno's lips, maybe if he shuts his eyes and imagines the strands of hair intertwined between his fingers are Jeno's.
In that moment, the issue comes to light: Chenle’s not the one doing it all wrong. Jeno is the only one who knows when to breach in, where to reach, how to bite to get Chenle to melt under his lips. And it’s only him who knows to press him against the iron bars, picking him up like he’s light as a feather, and to keep doing that again and again until Chenle’s drunk with it, until his brain shuts down and it’s only Jeno, Jeno, Jeno. Nothing Chenle could do to recreate this, and all of the kisses that came before, could ever do them justice, because it wasn’t Jeno kissing him.
or
Chenle and Jeno break up right before going to college and spend the next sixteen years chasing each other.
