“Promise me, you will always want more.”
“What do you mean?” Beomgyu doesn’t move away, his voice heavy with sleep.
Taehyun gulps. “That you… Won’t settle for anything less than victory. I want to… I want to race with you, stand on the podium with you…” I want to show them how good you are. I want them to see you as the greatest driver ever.
Beomgyu lifts his head, and Taehyun avoids his eyes.
Seconds pass before Beomgyu settles back on his shoulder. “Okay.” He breathes. “I like being on the podium with you, too.”

The glimpse into the past, their debut year in Formula 1 brought more than both of them hoped for. Both Taehyun and Beomgyu are rookies, debuted in 2018. One in Ferrari, the other in Renault but with the same dreams. Little did they know, dreams can easily turn into nightmares.
This is a prequel to a much bigger taegyu f1 fic! You also don't have to have any prior knowledge of f1 to understand the story.

A day doesn’t pass without Taehyun wondering how it all went wrong, and when it became unredeemable. When friendship turned into something acidic, biting through years of bond and memories.
Despite doing his best to banish the past from his mind, its tendrils keep reaching for Beomgyu, pulling and tugging relentlessly. And when he dares to look back, all he sees is a withered garden with thorns, long neglected.
One looks for the other among raging fangs and whipping words, while the other keeps running endlessly. Always just a reach away, but never close enough to catch up.

Two seasons has passed since Beomgyu's accident. Taehyun has been crowned champion again. In the 2025 season they clash again, forced to face with the past and the future as their path weaves together once again.
