The crisp fall morning breeze ruffled her hair, and she glanced over at Jinshi, who had his own hair down, and was rewarded with a somewhat ethereal view of him. His profile, highlighted by the golden sunlight of early morning; his hair, flowing around his shoulders, flying messily in the wind. He must’ve forgotten to do it up before he left home that morning. She studied him and the slight curve of his smile, the plush of his lip, the blush high on his cheeks from the cold.
It felt like she was viewing a god in human form.

Summary
Maomao scrubbed at her eyes. Her head hurt, but she soon realized it wasn’t because of the dream she was having; her phone was ringing, and not just anyone was calling her. Jinshi’s distinctive ringtone blared from her bedside table, and she groped around in the dark for it before answering.
“‘Lo?” she mumbled. “What’s up?”
Nothing. Maomao might’ve thought that she caught Jinshi’s quiet breathing on the other end of the line, but she might’ve been hallucinating it.
She sat up, checking the clock beside her bed. “Jinshi?” she ventured. “Are you okay? Why are you calling me at one in the morning, hmm?”
“Couldn’t sleep,” was Jinshi’s response. “Did I wake you? I’m sorry.”
