Summary
Her friend's blood covered her hands, her teeth, her tongue, her lips, it stained under her nails, it dripped down below onto her white dress, long since dirtied with mud and grass. Once, her father had said that to prepare an animal's flesh was to give its life to their goddess, but Hysteria didn't want to give her friend away to any god. Hysteria wanted to keep her friend just as it is, raw and unsightly and coated with red and red and red. Hunting was a holy thing, to Dayspring. But if to be holy meant to abandon all things to Her; maybe Hysteria does not want to be holy.
How long she stayed there, Hysteria isn’t sure. When her mother wandered out to find her, and saw her blood-caked hands, she had looked so horrified. This, Hysteria remembers well.
“You wretched thing,” Her mother had said, voice shaking, as though she was afraid. How strange, she thought. How strange.
Hysteria had a life, once. She had a sister.

Summary
“Yes,” Hysteria nodded. “If you could change destiny for yourself and everyone else, what would you say? Would you want to?’
Something was happening. Something. Quirin couldn’t know for certain what, or even why she felt this way, but there was something in her chest. Something akin to dread, or nausea was twisting inside of her. Yet she couldn’t find it in herself to even be swayed. Not when she looked at the figure above her, who surely must have been an angel. Who was her reprieve from that terrible, terrible place.Quirin was dead. And then she wasn't. Her soul wasn't hers either, anymore. But she found that she didn't quite mind.
