Summary
"Let us celebrate, if only for an evening.”
The bewilderment on Rieux's face’s indescribable. What possibly is there to celebrate, in the midst of suffering and struggle?
He voices the concern: “Celebrate?”
Tarrou lightly clanks his bottle against the one in Rieux's grasp.
“To friendship.”

Summary
Rieux hums. Somewhat of a fog embraces him. Tarrou's thumb sits in the corner of his mouth; he turns his head, opening his lips just slightly enough so the finger brushes past teeth and rests atop the flat of his tongue.
The fingers still on the wheel twitch. Tarrou side-glances at the man in the passenger seat – Rieux closes his mouth. Swirls his tongue around the digit, and sucks.
