Summary
Sam knows what he wants. He's known for a long time now. There is, however, a great deal of it that he refuses to admit. Not even to himself. From an outside perspective, it looks like he goes after what he wants when he wants it. It looks like he lives an enjoyable life. However, the few things that he wants most are exactly what he's convinced he's destined not to have.
Of all the things that impacted his psyche growing up, there are two that he struggles with the most. Usually, it's the distress of having to fill the familial role that his father left vacant when Sam was only a kid. The more time that passes, the heavier it weighs on him. The second is that of a years long misunderstanding about the one person he thinks he truly knows everything about. He actively tries to obliterate feelings from his consciousness that just won’t die.
He’s gotten comfortable living this way. It’s not like it’s particularly difficult. And at times, he genuinely is having fun. But ultimately, he’ll be glad that he never could erase what he truly wants from his heart and mind. In the end, it seems there are a few of those things that he desperately wants that maybe he was destined to have after all.

Summary
Sebastian has always had Sam figured out. Even in moments when Sam doesn't understand himself. Call it intuition, call it the result of being so close with him for so long, people can call it whatever they want to, but he will always be able to read Sam like an open book. Sometimes, he wishes that awareness was mutual.
Lately, though, there's been something... off with Sam. Sebastian doesn't like the road that all the signs are pointing to. All he can do is hope to Yoba that he's wrong.

This is a retelling of my first fic, "Fuck me like you hate me, praise me like you love me." now told from Sebastian's point of view. There are details of the overall story that I really wanted to include but just didn't make sense from the narrative perspective of the original fic. I personally feel they should be read concurrently by chapter, but that's just me. Read them however you'd like. Either one of these fics can be read on their own without reading the other one, but some overarching story details will be missed out on.
