Summary
Kai's little sister, Nya, has been taken by the skulkin general, Samukai. A strange old man trains him in the arts of balance and combat so that Kai can save her. But can he be trusted? With the help of Wu and his three loyal students, Kai must best the skulkin army, mythical creatures, and the sinister darkness lurking beneath Ninjago.

Forget everything you know about the series. There will be heavy canon divergence—especially in later installments. Changes to character motivations, backstories, and the general maturity of the series will all be implemented. I seek to expand on the world and characters as much as I can and make everything flow smoothly, while adding new elements to keep the story exciting. I promise, this fic is not a direct copy-paste of the show. I will keep in certain dialogues from the show, but this is a rewrite, not a retelling.
