“stupid dragon, always wanting what’s mine,” till grumbles. “y’know, he never asks you for food. you always get to eat in peace.”
ivan smirks. “maybe because i’m kind to him. did you ever think of that?”
“hey, i can be kind!” without batting an eye, till tears off half of his remaining sandwich and throws it at deino. the pokémon swallows it whole and lets out an affectionate chirp. “but seriously, where did you find this guy? how well did you take care of him that he decided to treat you like a parent?”

Summary
till huffs, but his gaze doesn’t waver from the breeder’s figure. he watches as ivan smiles down at the magikarp jumping in and out of the water beside the boat. it’s a sight for sore eyes; ivan rarely smiles genuinely around till, but when he does, it’s like the world around them brightens that much more.
there’s a pang in till’s chest, one he’s not familiar with. he doesn’t think he’s getting sick though, so he ignores it.

(till and ivan go to dewford town to deliver a letter. while in town, till gets to battle the gym. he also gets to experience jealousy of a certain steven stone.)
