Too early. Conan thought. Too early.
He was going to die then. No question about that. The only question was when.
Or: What would happen if Conan's luck ran out at the end of The Raven Chaser? What if he hadn't managed to get outside onto the balcony where Irish would eventually be shot? He's a heck of an opponent, and he's allowed to actually be an antagonist for more than 5 minutes.

Summary
It was odd, to think about how willing he was to die for the people he cared about. Worse, how willing he was to hurt other people just to protect them. He had ruined people’s lives, killed people, just because of his own selfishness. Just because he couldn’t bear to let the people he loved get hurt. Every time he thought about it, he felt like throwing up. He was just as bad as Connor when it came down to it.
Or: Shinichi isn't okay. He knows that there's something a little broken, but he's not on his own to pick up the pieces.
