“No, because I know that Hollander is just—” Ilya cut himself off, staring up at the ceiling like the right words might magically appear there. He scratched his jaw. “A wolf or whatever…in something sheep, yes?”
Svetlana rolled her eyes. She knew Ilya was making things up, probably still sulking after losing the title. “A wolf in sheep’s clothing,” she corrected, not even looking up from her phone.
“Da!” Ilya exclaimed, pointing at her like she’d just solved the most complicated puzzle. “I think he is fake. Does not seem like boyfriend material.”
Svetlana sighed and finally looked at him, not knowing she would regret her next words soon.
“If it’s bothering you, why don’t you date him and find out?” she said, already tired of her friend’s nonsense. “And don’t you have practice?”
She turned away, missing the moment the wheels in Ilya’s head began to spin and the slow grin that spread across his very handsome face as he walks out the room.
