Summary
The fight for control of Pandora continues in full force, now that the RDA is aided by various military contingents from Earth's countries. While the balance gradually tilts in humanity's favor, the Na'vi are still able to fight back and destroy the sky people's attempts to take control of their sacred lands. In the midst of these battles, a tank on a routine patrol falls into the trap of a war group, fighting for survival while its crew begins to regret the decision to come to that planet.

Summary
After reports of Sergeant Lawrence's successes reach the ears of newly appointed Brigadier General Miles Quaritch, the 1st Armour Platoon is transferred from Hell's Gate to Bridgehead to support the upcoming military operations. Lawrence is promoted and given command of a battle group, sent to do the RDA's job on the northern border. He carries out increasingly horrific orders, torn between his duty and his growing sympathy for the Na'vi. Jake simultaneously tries to balance his duty as a warrior with his duty to his family and people, finding similarities between himself and the prisoner he holds.
