Summary
But how could he possibly put into words that his desire for the championship was the only thing that outweighed his aching want for a child of George’s? A baby with his unnervingly intense stare. These days, whenever a fan asked him to hold their infant, all Max could picture was a little one of their own. Swallowing his contraceptives had become a Herculean task lately, requiring more and more mental gymnastics to convince himself it was for the best. He had even skipped a pill entirely last week without the usual panic setting in, as if some part of him was quietly making the decision before his conscious mind caught up. The mere thought of carrying George’s pup left him feeling feverish and light-headed, just as he felt now.
Sod it.
He sent the message, followed by a virtual hotel key.

Summary
George only ever played if he was certain he would win.
Max liked to believe he was not that sort of man. Not like Jos. But George had always been the exception that proved the rule, the one who could reduce Max’s carefully constructed self-image, and his meticulously maintained chemical control, to rubble with a single glance.
“Only once,” Max's voice broke, a raw scrape of sound. “And then… we forget it ever happened.”
“Just the once,” George relented, and the words sounded like a full stop.
In one fluid, predatory movement, he surged to his feet and, in the same instant, hauled George up with him. They stood chest-to-chest, the cold, riveted metal of the Audi motorhome against George’s back.
