Silver Snow is intended as a continuation of White Clouds, with a slightly distinct version for each of the three houses. It centers more directly on Rhea and less on Byleth, as well as treating the Church of Seiros as an independent faction and the chosen nation as a secondary ally to the Church. It also has been rewritten somewhat with the goal of better depicting the Church as a force fo protecting the stability of Fodlan, rather than a direct military assault against the Empire.
