Vaguely familiar pop music blasted through the tiny studio kitchen. It felt empty without the coarse voice humming and tagging along to every step I made. It should have felt larger but the room seemed as though it had shrunk three or four sizes.
It felt criminal to only grab one pair of cutlery, hand aching to grab the other matching pair and set it down. For her to rush in from wherever she was and sit with her cocky grin going ‘Nice dinner flowers.’ Has she tried to call yet? Does she even miss me? Does she even want me? My chest heaved with the labour that only a worried mind could create.
