Summary
CHIWA <3: omg i’m so sorry rudo, i forgot we had a date today! Can we reschedule?
The text sits there on her phone, neat and casual and devastating.
She’s standing right outside the restaurant she was supposed to meet Chiwa at. She waited for thirty minutes. Thirty long, humiliating minutes, checking the door every time it opened, flinching every time someone brushed past her. And then it started to rain. And then—like it was waiting for the right moment to really twist the knife—the text came.
Rudo doesn't know what she’s supposed to feel.
Disappointment, yes. That’s there, heavy and obvious. Understanding, too—of course Chiwa has more important things to do than remember a date with Rudo. And anger. Sharp, biting anger directed squarely at herself for actually thinking she was getting somewhere. For letting herself believe that maybe this time was different.
(Or: Rudo experiences what has got to be one of the worst days of her life, and—just when she thinks it can’t get any worse—she gets caught dumpster diving. Just great.)

Summary
“Hm…how do you feel about antique shops?”
Regto’s voice slices cleanly through her thoughts.
Rudo’s entire body betrays her.
She flinches.
It’s subtle, barely noticeable—but Regto’s sharp eyes miss very little. The words antique shop echo far louder in her head than they have any right to. Because she’s not thinking about antique shops in general.
She’s thinking about one in particular.
One cramped, cluttered space filled with warm lighting, dusty relics, and an infuriatingly shameless blonde woman with yellow eyes and a cigarette-sweet voice.
Enjin.
(Or: Rudo and Enjin finally get to talking.)
