Summary
“We have an emergency intake here, a violent, feral omega. He’s covered in scars and bruises, and a couple of shallow scratches across his ribs that may be self- inflicted.”
'But we didn’t ask' goes unspoken. It’s not the business or the manner of a non- profit that is run and funded on volunteers and donations. And the kindness of others, Andrew supposes. It’s why he’s answering this call and how he knows what Betsy is going to utter next before she does.
“Would you be willing to come down here and help him?”
Help him, she asks. Because Andrew is a volunteer, he voluntarily agrees to comfort violent, feral omegas using any means they both mutually consent to. Usually when the sun is awake.
But Neil Josten is pretty, really fucking pretty.

Summary
“You did a very good job with him last time.”
“Oh, that’s cruel. Even for you, Bee,” Andrew says, he grips at his chest where his heart would probably be if he had one. It gives a strong pump to her words, as if to say I’m here. “The things those words could do to a mean man's heart.”
Despite his fight, Andrew rolls out of bed. His sock covered feet hit the ground and he wishes he could say ‘no’. To tell Betsy to fuck right off, because this is ridiculous and he’s not being paid for any of this. For the fact that the last and only time he’d seen Neil Josten he’d left with a cloudy head and a pent up body. Ten weeks ago.
Coincidentally, the same number as the letters in Neil’s first and last name. And most likely the number of hours Andrew has slept since that day. And the amount of times he’s jerked off thinking about blue eyes and tan skin-
He slaps his hand against the side of his head. “This is the last time I do anything nice for anyone.”

Summary
“Neil Josten.” The name leaves Andrew’s mouth before he can stop it. “What do you know about Neil Josten?”
The issue with Neil Josten worming his way into Andrew’s skin like a parasite that makes him skinny- is that he’s predictably unpredictable. Andrew is well aware that he’s opened the floodgates by seeking Neil out. He’s given him permission in a way that words can’t. Allowed him to infiltrate parts of his life.
Andrew works shifts at the omega care facility. Betsy Dobson gives him a knowing look as she always does from behind the counter, well aware that Neil is out there in the wilderness and terrorizing Andrew.

Summary
“Can you see me okay?” Neil asks as if this is a video chat. The answer to that is ‘no’. The lighting is horrendous and causes a slight grain to filter throughout the screen. It relies on natural lighting streaming through the window in an early dawn glow. “First time recording myself, kinda nervous.”
Neil is not Andrew’s omega. But he lets the video play to the end one last time before moving, and something inside of him rings painfully. It leaves an ache in his chest that squeezes around each individual bone in his ribcage like a snake wanting to kill him. Andrew wants to reach in there and pull it out.
This cannot be happening to him.
