Bruce Wayne arrives at a Metropolis gala with a device in his pocket and an exit strategy in his head. He leaves with neither, and a persistent frequency he cannot locate or turn off.
Clark Kent is warm, direct, and completely unimpressed by power.
He takes Amtrak. He tips well. He eats fermented shark with the serenity of a man at peace with the universe.

Two years after the gala. The orbit has found its shape.
Dinners almost every night. Out three times a week.
Saturdays are films. Sundays are newspapers and coffee and not checking the time. The mug is on the left side of the kitchen. The shoes are in the hallway. The arm is still there every morning.
Every day is a good day.
Bruce has questions he's been sitting on since the east wall. Clark has answers — some of them. The ones that are his to give.
