The world started to turn and all Buck could hear was ringing in his ears and the woman yelling for her kid. “Derek! Where are you?”

Buck’s chest tightened and his breaths began to come in short gasps. He felt as if his body was seizing up just as it did when the stun baton struck him. His breaths turned frantic.

Summary
Buck doesn’t know how it happened, but one second he was standing and the next he was toppling toward the ground. He hit the ground hard with no energy to catch himself. Everything hurt like hell. His head was pounding, side burning, scratches and cuts stinging, but he was safe.
He was safe because Eddie was here. Eddie was alive.
Buck felt crushing relief and overwhelming exhaustion. Eddie saved him.
He could feel the sun beating down on his face, but couldn’t bring himself to open his eyes, not until Eddie was upon him.
“Look at me, Buck!” Eddie’s voice sounded panicked. Buck felt a hand come to cradle one side of his face, fingers lifting his head off the ground, and the other pressed fingers into his pulse. “Look at me, Buck!”
