Fingers wrap around Dazai’s bandaged wrist: a delicate contrast with the exposed skin of Chuuya’s. Smooth and beautiful and innocent.
“Huh. If Chuuya means our line of work, then yes.” Dazai opens up his palm, and they seek warmth in that, too. Curling their fingers together, twitching when they feel their heartbeats sync.
“But it’s…not the same. They don’t matter.” Dazai’s mind and body already accepted the detachment inherent to him—but Chuuya hasn’t.
“What about me, then?” Chuuya’s is full of twisted hope, inherent to him as well.
“You?”
or: Chuuya sees Dazai’s scarred neck for the first time. It makes him feel weird and mushy inside, then offers to take the self-harm Dazai’s body can’t (by Chuuya’s judgement) handle anymore.
