“I want to worship you,” Hannibal whispers. “I want to put you on a pedestal and prostrate myself upon your altar. Would you let me, Will?”
Will doesn’t respond. Instead, his mouth slots over Hannibal’s. A hand tangles into Hannibal’s hair when their lips meet. The kiss is gentle. Hannibal’s lips are honest where his words are not. The kiss betrays more than Hannibal wants to say, Will thinks, tenderness bleeding into every interaction.

“I have no similar reservations,” Hannibal answers softly. “If you had come to me and kissed me as a clutch for balance, I would’ve given it to you. I would give you anything, Will, if you would just ask.”
“And your obligations to your field of study? Would you feel obligated to observe me too?”
Hannibal’s lips twitch upwards at the question. “Dear Will, if we were in a relationship, I would not merely observe you. I would covet you. I would obsess over you.” Hannibal says. His voice drops to a low whisper, his breath caressing him before a large hand reaches up to cup Will’s jaw. “That is, if you would let me.”
