Mako's eyes sharpen, less like he's angry and more...intent. "You talk. A lot."
"One of my many talents," Wu says with a flourish.
Mako's burning gaze doesn't waver. "My time with the Triple Threats is almost up. I'm looking for talented people. Try not to get killed in the meantime." And with that mysterious nonsequitor Mako steps back, turns away and moves to exit the alley.

"See," Bolin gestures vaguely, "weird."
"What's weird?" Mako asks behind him, nearly sending Bolin jumping out of his skin.
"You," Korra says bluntly, grabbing a new fruit filled alcoholic monstrosity from the tray in Mako's hands. She takes a long sip from the curly straw before continuing, "Bolin thinks it's weird you have a phone. And friends. And an actual wardrobe."
'Traitor' Bolin mouths at her. Korra shrugs, unrepentant.Wu changes Mako's life for the better, Bolin notices...eventually.

"I don't want Bolin to see my scars," he finally says, oh so quietly. Wu's eyes immediately dart toward Mako's arm. Mako catches the motion and shakes his head. He glances down the beach, sees the others still wholly wrapped up in their game, and quickly, as if he's trying to outrace his own doubts, lifts the hem of his shirt.
The first thing Wu notices is a starburst of red, raised skin, little branching lines trailing away from the point of impact like roots from a tree. A lightning scar, just like the ones twisting their way up his arm. It must have been nasty to blister the skin badly enough to scar. It sits on Mako's lower abdomen, over his left hip, like someone was aiming for his heart and missed.
