Summary
“Technically we did know each other in primary school, but you went to the private school two streets down,” Rin says. “Actually I’m not even sure how well we knew each other, since you left after like a year.”
Rin knows he is being unpleasant now but doesn’t stop. “More like eleven months, actually.”
Sousuke puts the sandwich down and wipes his lips with the paper napkin. The grease has left a light sheen on them. He is looking at Rin. The look seems to bore into his skull. “I didn’t realize you were paying so much attention.”

Summary
“These are amazing,” he said. “Have you ever drawn something for Sousuke?”
“I did, when we were little,” Kisumi replied, when Asahi joined him. “But I feel like I’ve outgrown that now that we’re all adults. I ought to buy him something.”
Asahi nodded. This gave him an odd and unsettled feeling. He went to sit on the chair, saying nothing as the shop attendant returned with the items Kisumi requested. At the counter, she wrapped the knife and the pot both in delicately printed tissue paper, then tucked them into thick paper bags with cream colored letters and black ribbons. Asahi took the bags from Kisumi in silence, as they descended towards the basement, trailing a short distance behind him and pretending to peruse the spices and browse for recipes they might be good for, and making the occasional comment about whether or not Sousuke was likely to use it.
Once outside, the crisp autumn air seeped into their clothes. Asahi handed the bags to Kisumi, then wrapped the pink wool around Kisumi’s neck. Kisumi was looking at him very directly.
“Asahi,” he said, in a small voice. “Have I upset you?”
