It’s a ridiculous concept anyway. Not being able to know for sure that someone is truly yours until they die? Or at least when they are close to death? Fate is having a laugh and the world is suffering for it.
Sure, it’s supposed to give closure, if you believe all of the hopeless romantics out there — which Dan certainly does not — but what good is that knowledge if you can’t act on it? Why on earth would the universe or whoever decide to give out the unconditional love of being soulmates, only to take it away right when you know for sure?
Sounds kind of conditional, doesn’t it?
